GORILLA DOCTORS AND THEIR ROLES

Gorilla Doctors are health workers specialized in treating and researching about diseases that attack Gorillas. Gorilla doctors are found in all Gorilla parks like Bwindi Impenetrable Forest andMgahinga Forest National Park (Uganda), Volcanoes National park (Rwanda) and Virunga national park (Democratic Republic of Congo) among others.

Gorilla Doctors are entitled to perform the following roles:

Gorilla Doctors are responsible for treating diseases that attacks Gorillas. Diseases like Ebola, Cholera, Cough and Tuberculosis among others attack Gorillas so, it is the role of Gorilla doctors to treat them.

Gorilla doctors give medical advices to rangers on how to cater for the Gorillas. How to give first aid in the absence of the gorilla Doctor, how to help Gorilla when producing and so on.

Gorilla Doctors offer preventive measures against diseases that attack Gorillas.  How to avoid the spread of diseases amongest the Gorillas.

Gorilla Doctors advises on Gorilla trekking rules and regulations. Visitors suffering from infectious diseases are not allowed to meet Gorillas, 7 metres should be left between Gorillas and trekkers, only one hour is given to trekkers view and chat with Gorillas and so on.

Gorilla Doctors are put a keen eye on each Gorilla to ensure its welfare. They report any expected epidemic before it attacks Gorillas.

Gorilla Doctors carry out research about Gorillas and diseases that attack them. They research about medicine/ vaccinations that cure Gorillas.

Gorilla Doctors trains new medical persons to perform the work of treating Gorillas. They train interns to perform future work of catering for Gorillas.
