6 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari, Wildlife & Chimpanzee Tracking
Tour Overview
The tour starts and ends in Kampala, takes you to Kibale National park for Chimpanzees and other primates tracking or Chimps Habituation Experience and Bird watching. Connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park for boat cruise on Kazinga channel as well as big game viewing where you may find animals such as Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, and several antelope species among other animals. The 6 day Uganda gorilla safari ends with mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest located in south western Uganda. Below is the detailed day by day itinerary;
Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe Airport – Transfer to Kibale National Park (Home of exciting chimps) (6-7 hours drive)
Our safari guide will pick you from Airport and then enjoy the scenic journey to the beautiful town of Fort Portal. Proceed to the home of chimpanzees for relaxation as we wait for dinner and overnight at Kyaninga Lodge, Ndali Lodge, Chimp Nest Lodge or chimpanzee Guest House.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation (Full day) OR Chimpanzee trekking (half a day)
Have early morning breakfast and report for briefing from ranger guides. We shall move with our packed lunch, bottled mineral water and so on. Enter the forest in search for the Chimpanzees. Note that chimpanzee habituation take a full day while in the forest charting with chimps and studying about them with professional and knowledgeable ranger guide. You may also meet other primates like colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, baboons, unique tree species and birds. Enjoy the view of the primates as they play in the fruiting trees, feeding, suckling young ones among others. You will be free to take as many photos and films of chimps and other attractions as you can. Return to your Lodge for relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park (2-3hours drive) – En route game drive – Late afternoon Boat cruise
Connect to Queen Elizabeth National park after early morning breakfast; you will follow the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Ranges. En route game drive will reward you the view of games like leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffalos, Lions among others. Lunch and then enjoy late afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga channel where you will view Hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and water birds at a close range. The boat trip gives a clear platform for photographing. Dinner and at Twin Lake Lodge, Enganzi Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Ishasha sector (Tree climbing lions) – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Home of Gorillas)
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Ishasha sector to see the tree climbing lions. Arrival at the park for dinner and overnight at Mahogany spring lodge, Gorilla Mist Camp or Gorilla Valley Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking – Music, Dance and Drama
This is the memorable day, where you will track the amazing giants. Move to the park headquarters in the morning for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the animals. Move with an experienced ranger guide through Bwindi forest since it’s impenetrable. Search for gorillas on forest guided walk. Enjoy them swinging on the trees, feeding, suckling young ones among others. Trekking may take 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the Gorilla groups. You will also be given a maximum of one hour taking photographs of these amazing creatures. Then descend to your HOTEL FOR lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you will take a community walk to the Batwa Community, to enjoy their traditional performance like music, dance and drama and learn about their unique culture among others. Dinner and overnight as previously.
Day 6: Return to Entebbe International Airport
Have heavy early morning breakfast and begin the drive back to Kampala, with en route stopover for lunch in Mbarara town and at the Equator for photographs and local craft markets for African craft. Proceed to the Airport for your flight back home.
