IMPORTANCE OF AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF RWANDA
Akagera National Park is situated in the northeastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania. The park was founded in 1934, much of the park was re-allocated as farms and in 1997 the park was reduced in size from more than 2,500 sq km to its current extent of 1,122 sq km. Nyungwe National park is located in south western part of Rwanda, about 5 hours drive from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. This is the largest mountain forest in East and Central Africa. The forest inhabits about 13 primate species that include chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, galagoes, grey cheeked mangabeys, Baboons, golden monkeys, and over 300 bird species.
