Golden Monkey trekking starts in the morning after briefing which starts at 7:30Am and end at 8:00am. Mgahinga National park is composed of tropical and bamboo forests where golden monkeys are found.
Unlike Gorillas, Golden monkeys are easily found and their trekking is not as much strenuous as for Gorillas. Therefore, clients can do Golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park and then departure on the same day – for this case, clients are advised to fly out through Kigali International Airport which is 3-4hours drive from Mgahinga National park.

At around 4:30am, our safari guide meet you at your Hotel in Kigali – transfer to Volcanoes National park. Meet fellow trekkers at Kinigi headquarters – be briefed and then move to trekking Golden Monkey trekking. Golden monkey trekking approximately 3-5 hours and you are given only one hour charting, studying and photographing. Return for lunch and then transfer back to Kigali to fly out.

GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING RULES AND REGULATIONS
A distance of 7 metres should be left between trekkers and Golden monkeys.
Flash cameras are not recommended- this is because, light from flash camera and scare golden monkeys and they take off to far areas.
A maximum of 1 hour is allowed to stay with Golden monkeys. Use one hour to take photos, observe and study Golden Monkeys’ behaviors.
Dumping rubbish in the park is strictly prohibited.
