Sabyinyo Silver Back Lodge in Rwanda
Sabyinyo Silver back Lodge is strategically situated at the foothills of the mighty Virunga Mountain namely sabyinyo volcano, Karisimbi, Bisoke, Mgahinga among others. The chain of 15,000 ft volcanoes stretching through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), affords wonderful views of the volcanoes and the surrounding countryside.
All guest cottages and the main Lodge building have been beautifully constructed and appointed and the Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore this unique and fascinating corner of Africa. The lodge is built and operated by Governors’ Camp. The lodge is owned by a Community Trust, SACOLA, which uses rentals and community fees from the lodge to drive socio - economic and conservation initiatives in the communities adjacent to the National Park.
The Lodge is strategically located near the headquarters of the Parc National des Volcans from where clients trek on foot to see the magnificent Mountain Gorilla – perhaps one of the most dramatic, thrilling and poignant wildlife experiences possible.
The Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is a new luxury lodge that has been built right on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park at Ruhengeri. It's excellently located for gorilla trekking and other activities in the park, only ten minutes drive from the Park Headquarters and it's location at 7,000ft above sea level will help acclimatize you to the altitude for the gorilla trek.
The main lodge and all of the eight cottages have stunning views of the string of Virunga Volcanoes, and are well spaced out for privacy. The cottages are spacious and include a sitting room with fireplace, bedroom, dressing room, 24 hour electricity and a large bathroom with bath and shower with hot and cold running water. They also have a sheltered balcony where you can relax and read a book or marvel at the views. Other facilities include a library and games room in the main lodge, bar and restaurant and room service on request.
