13 Day Uganda Rwanda Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda
You will be received by our representative at Kigali International Airport – be surprised by the welcoming gift and then sett off for dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel, Manor Hotel or Step Town Motel.
Day 2: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will be driven to the home of 13 primate species in Rwanda including the chimps. Have lunch in Butare town; proceed to Nyungwe forest National Park for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge, Nyungwe Hill Top View Lodge or Gisakura Guest House.
Day 3: Chimp trekking in Nyungwe forest
This will be our first day to search for primates that largely relate to humans the – chimpanzees. The chances here however are not open but with nature luck is the most important factor. Later on we get back to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive to Volcanoes National Park – Mountain Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, transfer to the home of Rwandas Mountain Gorillas – en route view the shores of Lake Kivu – proceed to Volcanoes National park for lunch, dinner and overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le bambou Gorilla Lodge or Muhabura Hotel.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking – view the mighty Virunga ranges

Move with packed lunch, tracking gears and so on. Have briefing and then be led by the experienced ranger guides to search for the Gorillas in their natural habitat. It is a life changing even which every one should enjoy before death! Approximant time of Gorilla trekking is 4-6 hours and the permitted time spent with Gorillas is one hour. Take as many photos as you can – stay with Gorillas amidst Virunga volcanoes. Return to your lodge with great memories. Relax in the afternoon as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Golden monkey trekking – the second thought for activity in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
This day we shall be in the same place but looking for golden monkeys that are always seen in hundreds in the bamboos of volcanoes National park. Like the previous day we shall assemble at the park headquarters for briefing before starting the walk to search for the monkeys.
Day 7: Cross to Uganda – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
We wake up to a hot breakfast as we also leave the land of a thousand hills to the Pearl of Africa Uganda crossing through Cyanika border that takes us about one hour. We drive to another gorilla park but in Uganda for our second gorilla tracking.
Day 8: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Forest, Uganda
Spend half day or full day in the forest depending on the movement of Gorilla groups. Here one is exposed to the experience of two countries offering the same adventure. Tracking gorillas is unpredictable so it is always advisable to carry enough water and a packed lunch as you go for the activity. A ranger guide leads you through this experience while you learn about the flora and fauna and flora. After seeing Gorillas, return to your Lodge for relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park – view a variety of wildlife including tree climbing lions
After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the southern part of the park famous for the tree climbing lions. Depending on luck here, we later on in the afternoon transfer to the northern part of QENP and time allowing we do evening games drive before checking in Mweya Safari Lodge, Enganzi Lodge or Twin Lake Lodge.
Day 10: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge of Queen Elizabeth N.P – Boat cruise
Morning breakfast at our hotel then later on drive to Kyambura gorge for yet another Chimp tracking experience. After this primate search we go for a hot lunch at the hotel before driving to Mweya peninsular where we start a boat cruise on a natural 40km channel linking up two major lakes George and Edward. This activity takes us for averagely two hours and there after we drive back to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: Leave QENP - Cross the Equator – transfer to Kibale National park
Leave Queen Elizabeth National park after breakfast – have memorable photos at the Uganda Equator Monuments – proceed to the home of a variety of chimpanzees. En route view the mighty mountains of the moon. Here we shall have a true African lunch then in the afternoon go for a nature walk in the famous Bigodi swamp. The primates expected here on this walk are red collobus, black and white collobus, the blue monkey, grey cheeked mangbey, and the red tailed monkey among others. Also interesting in the same swamp is a number of bird species like the great blue turaco. Later on we get to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest National Park
After breakfast we drive to Kanyachu park headquarters for a pre chimp/primate tracking briefing before getting into the forest to search for the primates. This is the most primate endowed forest in Uganda, Africa and perhaps the whole world. Depending on our luck and energy level after the tracking, the afternoon can be spent doing a marsh walk at Bigodi or at leisure as we also organize up towards getting back home.
Day 13: Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
