6 Day Rwanda Primates Safari, Gorillas & Chimpanzee Tracking Tour
Day 1: Arrival - Volcanoes National park
Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, your driver / guide will be waiting for you; he will then transfer you to Parc National des Volcans; the home to Mountain Gorillas. The journey takes you through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda's landscape. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge or Kinigi Guest House.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking: Life time event
Have an early morning breakfast and get ready for today's life time event of Gorillas tracking. You will assemble at the park headquarters with packed lunch, have a briefing about the 'Dos' and 'Don'ts' while with gorillas. Depending on the level of fitness, you may be asked to choose the group you wish to trek and the closest being about 2 hours or even a couple of minutes from the park boundary. The trek is quite strenuous, so you should be able to hike for 2-6 hours on steep and slippery mountain trails. Descend to the lodge for relax abit and thereafter, we transfer to Lake Kivu to enjoy the view while at the shores of Lake Kivu. Here, photographing is a must!!! Dinner and overnight at Kivu Serena hotel, Lake Kivu Gorilla lodge, Kivu sun Hotel or paladis Malahide.
Day 3: Morning Boat cruise – Transfer to Nyungwe Forest (Home of Chimpanzees and other primates)
Break fast, we shall enjoy a boat cruise to visit the nearby Islands and hot springs thereafter, we return the land and transfer to Nyungwe forest which is made up of a variety of habitats including montane forests, bamboos, grasslands, and swamps. This is a home to 13 primate species such as Chimpanzees, endangered Golden monkeys, Blue Monkeys, colobus, red tailed monkeys and grey checked mangabeys. There are also about 300 bird species. Relax in the evening as we wait for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge, Nyungwe top view hotel or Gisakura guest house.
Day 4, Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon colobus monkeys or Canopy walk.
Breakfast and go for chimpanzee briefing and thereafter, enter Nyungwe forest in the company of ranger guides in search for colonies of Chimpanzees and many monkey species plus beautiful forest birds among others. Back to your lodge for lunch, relaxation as preparing for any one of the above mentioned activities of your choice, in the afternoon. Retire for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Nyungwe - Butare - Departure
Depart for Kigali after breakfast, en route visit to Murambi Genocide memorial museum and stop in Butare town (Second to Kigali) to visit the National Museum, lunch and proceed to Kigali for dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel, Manor Hotel or Step Town Hotel.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, we shall transfer to Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
