7 Days Gorilla Safari in Rwanda with 3 Gorilla Treks in Volcanoes National Park
Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival, our safari guide will be waiting for you at Kigali international Airport. Transfer to Volcanoes national Park for the amazing journey through the rolling hills of Rwanda with a clear view of the virunga ranges. Dinner and overnight at Virunga Lodge, Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Muhabura Hotel or Kinigi Guest House
Day 2: 1st Gorilla Trek – afternoon relaxation
Breakfast and head to the park headquarters with packed lunch & water for the briefing about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas, and then proceed to track the gorillas. Time taken while searching for these Gentle giants ranges between 2-7 hours depending on the movement of gorillas. Enjoy the view of Gorillas for a maximum of one hour and thereafter, return to your lodge for relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: 2nd Gorilla trekking – Local community walk
Breakfast, briefing and then search for another group of mountain gorillas or you can visit the same gorilla group like yesterday. Return to your Lodge and have a relaxed afternoon as you prepare for the afternoon community walk to discover the nearby areas. Return for dinner and overnight at your previous Lodge.
Day 4: 3rd Gorilla tracking experience – Visit Twin Lakes
Like the previous days, you will decide whether to visit a different gorilla group or the same group visited previously. Return for lunch and then transfer to Lake Burera and Buhondo for scenic view. Dinner and overnight as previously.
Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest (Home of 13 primates)
Break fast, transfer to Nyungwe forest which is made up of a variety of habitats including montane forests, bamboos, grasslands, and swamps. This is a home to 13 primate species such as Chimpanzees, endangered Golden monkeys, Blue Monkeys, colobus, red tailed monkeys and grey checked mangabeys. There are also about 300 bird species. Relax in the evening as we wait for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge, Nyungwe top view hotel or Gisakura guest house.
Day 6, Chimps / Primates tracking and Canopy walk
Breakfast and go for chimpanzee briefing and thereafter, enter Nyungwe forest in the company of ranger guides in search for colonies of Chimpanzees and many monkey species plus beautiful forest birds among others. Back to your lodge for lunch, relaxation as preparing for one of the above mentioned activity of your choice.
Day 7: Kigali City Tour, Departure
After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali, visit Gisozi Genocide memorial site and then transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.
