Gorillas in Uganda
Gorillas are the top tourist attraction in Uganda and second to none. On the other hand, Gorilla trekking is the major Uganda's tourist activity.
Gorilla are hosted in Mgahinga National park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which are situated in far south western Uganda.
Uganda now protects fifteen habituated Gorilla families: Fourteen in Bwindi Impenetrable forest and one in Mgahinga National Park. All the fifteen Gorilla families are set for tourism purposes earning Uganda lots of foreign exchange.
Currently, the cost of Uganda Gorilla permit goes up to US$ 600. In peak season, each Uganda Gorilla family earns the country $4800 because eight people are allowed to visit each Gorilla group every day.
Previously, Uganda used to offer discounted Gorilla permits in law season but the offer season was stopped in November 2017.
Uganda Gorilla trekking tour can start from and end at Entebbe Airport or Kigali Airport.
