THE QUICKEST GORILLA SAFARI IN UGANDA AND RWANDA

The quickest way to trek Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is to do one day Gorilla trekking and in Uganda, two days Gorilla trekking.

SHORTEST GORILLA TREK IN RWANDA: 1 DAY

One day Gorilla trekking starts in Kigali, Kibuye, Gisenyi or anywhere you can drive for the maximum of 3 hours to Volcanoes National Park. Most of the clients who book one day Gorilla trekking sleep in Kigali and they are picked up at around 4:30 am – transfer to volcanoes National park. Ensure to attend Gorilla trekking briefing which starts every day at 7am. Gorilla briefing exercises are conducted by the rangers at the park head quarter and it aims at equipping visitors the rules and regulations to follow during the trekking exercise.

At Kinigi headquarters, visitors are given welcoming tea and music as they wait for briefing. During briefing, visitors are allocated to meet a gorilla group which they wish. The aged, sick and weak are allocated to trek a nearby Gorilla group (3-4 hours trek). The strong or fitter visitors are allocated to a longer trek (2-6 hours trek).

Meet Gorillas, stay with them for the maximum of one hour – take photos and the trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your safari guide/ driver to take you for lunch and then drive you back to Kigali International Airport to catch your departure flight back home.

SHORTEST GORILLA SAFARI IN UGANDA: 2 DAYS

The visitors are advised to fly into Kigali International Airport in Rwanda. The safari guide meet  and pick clients from the Airport – driver to Uganda through Katuna boarder (3-4 hours’ drive) – proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable forest or Mgahinga Forest National park.

Stay one overnight in the park and then trek Gorilla the next day. The visitors can decide to stay in Luxury, mid- range/ deluxe or Budget accommodation depending on their budget and choice.

On the day to trek Gorillas, visitors will start with breakfast and then transfer to the park headquarter for briefing – they will be equipped with the dos and don’ts while in the process of trekking Gorillas. Meet Gorillas – enjoy their view, chat with them, take photos and then return to your Lodge for lunch – check out and drive back to Kigali International Airport to fly out.

Short Gorilla safaris save time and money – it should be noted that, Gorilla trekking permit for Rwanda is currently sold at US$ 750 and the Uganda Gorilla permit cost US$ 600.
