The easiest Gorilla trekking
THE EASIEST GORILLA TREKKING IN AFRICA
Rwanda Gorilla trekking trip
Gorilla trekking offers the climax of all safaris done in Africa and the best and easiest trek is in Rwanda. This is because Volcanoes National park (Home of Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda) is situated 2 hours’ drive from Kigali International Airport / city.
Volcanoes national Park protects ten habituated mountain Gorillas which enables visitors a wide range of making choice of which group to visit. The quickest trek can take 2 to 3 hours and the longer one takes half or full day depending on the movement of the mountain Gorillas in their natural environment.
It was on the bamboo-covered slopes of Rwanda’s Virunga Volcanoes that the late Dian Fossey studied the behaviour of the endangered mountain gorilla for 20 years, followed by the filmmakers who shot Gorillas in the Mist. Now small groups of privileged visitors can experience one of the most memorable wildlife encounters on earth - gorilla trekking through the pristine Virungas rain forest. The park its self is situated amidst the Virunga volcanoes. The views of the wonderful relief makes Volcanoes national park the best destination for trekking Gorillas.
The shortest Gorilla trip in Rwanda is a one day Rwanda Gorilla safari which starts with a pick up from the Hotel in Kigali at around 4:30am, transfer to Volcanoes National park. Report at the Kinigi park headquarters for briefing at 7:30am and thereafter, you will be allocated a gorilla group (each Gorilla group is visited by a maximum of eight people). You will be in control of the ranger guides throughout the trek to ensure informative and enjoyable trek.
The rare Gorilla trekking experience can be easily combined with other East African destinations in Uganda, Kenya, Burundi or Tanzania. While in Rwanda, you can also supplement Gorilla trekking with Lake Kivu safari, Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe, Akagera National park game viewing trip and so on.
