Trekking

Trek means go on a long arduous journey, typically on foot. In tourism sector, the word trek simply connected to primate search. The trekked primates include Gorillas, Golden Monkeys, Chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and Mona monkeys and  so on.

In Rwanda, primate trekking occurs in Volcanoes National Park (Gorilla and Golden Monkey treks) and Nyungwe National Park (Colubus Monkeys & Chimpanzee treks) . Other primates not yet trekked include Dent’s Mona Monkey, Blue monkeys, The Owl Faced Monkeys and The Angolan Colobus Monkeys among others.

Primate treks is the foundation of Rwanda Tourism because Gorillas, chimpanzees and Golden Monkeys among others. On daily basis, Rwanda earns from primate trekking especially Gorilla treks. Alternatively, you can trek chimpanzees, Golden Monkeys and so on.

Today, Rwanda Gorilla permit cost US$1500, Chimpanzee permit cost US$90 and Golden Monkey trekking cost US$100 while colobus monkey trekking cost US$75 per person.
